A fun, light, action-rpg with pretty graphics that looks like it would have been at home on the playstation 2. The kid says it is worth the price.

The kid starts in world that has mostly disappeared following a mysterious cataclysm. As he leaves his house and wanders around, the world floats up underneath his feet. Enemies appear seemingly out of nowhere and the kid takes his sword to them. A voice is heard describing everything the kid does. (and it mostly sounds like this too). You are trying to rebuild your village piece by piece, going to new areas to get a stone of some variety so that your village will have more area or another building.

The action in the game is a lot like Secret of Mana or even an older Zelda. 3/4 perspective, very pastel color palate, with graphics that look hand drawn/painted. You can get various weapons, but melee and long range. Upgrades for weapons are plentiful, if not abundant and add a nice touch. You can add various abilities to you character by buying what appears to be alcoholic drinks (or maybe just potions, I like to think there is a reason he hears someone narrating his life).

And yes, the music is good, but is often interrupted by a voice describing what you are doing. Sometimes it is just what you are doing, sometimes it is pointing out something on the screen as if your character saw it first. And sometimes, it's just funny. Like when you just start destroying boxes and barrels looking for stuff. "The kid just rages for a while. Let it out, man. Just let it out."

I haven't found the narration annoying yet, but I definitely see the potential for it get that way.

If you like the Secret of Mana style games, you will probably like this. If you aren't a fan of those, you probably wont.

3.5 out of 5.
Castle: This is so weird. I dressed up as him for Halloween.

Beckett: Me too.
