Now, I may not PAY that price, because I'm a college student, but those prices are FAIR.
The thing is, even if you look at it as art, it's also still a game. No matter how pretty/masterful/whatever it is, by the 15th time you've played Baldur's Gate 1, it does start to get a little tiresome. You're not going to pay 30 bucks for that 16th time. Even the most engaging and dynamic open game will EVENTUALLY get played out in full, often multiple times. That's the whole reason people buy new games! They want something NEW and unpredictable. Something where you don't know the answers to the puzzles, you haven't memorized all the sniper points and you don't know all the right decisions to make already.
There is DEFINITELY a price for nostalgia and paying your due to a "classic" masterful game. But people just aren't going to pay very much for something they already know. There is certainly a group of people buying old games who haven't played them already, but I get the feeling that those actually going out and buying said old games are the minority.

I bought Arch Rivals (NES) for $2.50 a few months ago. I'd say that's fair.
