So essentially it's a higher powered Wii with what looks like the worlds most uncomfortable controller (i'm prepared to be corrected when i get my hands on one), and limited 3rd pary support with no exclusivity I could see. Huh, nope, can't see any reason to get one so far.
The Good:
*Backwards compatability with games and peripherals - big thumbs up from me, I'm still annoyed at Sony removing this from EU PS3s
*Kids can play on the little screen out of the way - but has no point to me, or many 'core' gamers i would reckon
*It's got decent hardware specs, and supposrts 1080 HD
*It has some early 3rd party support - Darksiders II, Tekken, Batman: Arkham City and Assassin's Creed
The Bad:
*It all seems very Wii-like, and hey who can blame them, it made a fortune in hardware sales, and ninty made a decent profit on games too - But personally I don't have a Wii as it was only ever a gimmick to me.
*It has no exclusive 3rd party support of substance that I can see so far (Ubisoft is doing a shooter and a sports game for the family) - It could be argued that Ninty is their own exclusivity, but will they claim 360 and PS3 gamers back on the basis of their IP?
*No big Ninty games announced for it, or did i miss that?
The Unknown
*It's touchscreen - make of that what you will
*The price - Can they get it down to a Wii like level when they need a touchscreen controller? Can they even hit a 360 price point? Doubtful unless they go loss leader, and Ninty tend not to.
All in all I can't help but feel this is just more gimmicky Wii nonsense (my view), and when a recent survey in the UK showed that almost 50% of people who own a Wii hadn't touched theirs in over 6months...

It could, of course, be the new Gamecube. *NM*

It's possible. I'm not saying this is a guarantee, but we've seen how the DS & Wii have printed $$$. *NM*

It's still not something Nintendo wants.

Please. It picked up at the end of its lifespan, but it doesn't come close to XBox or PS2

I owned more games for GC than I have ever owned for any other system

Gamecube was the top of my leaderboard in quantity and quality of titles owned, too. Until the 360.

Same here. In fact, I'd go so far as to say it has the best library of any console I've ever had.

I came across a "fact sheet" earlier today listing most of what's known about the Wii U.

It's all about the games, and we haven't seen those yet. But I have some concerns.

What does Nintendo have against processing power? You don't HAVE to cripple yourself!

Only one Wii U controller per system. That's a big downer, IMO, even if they'd be pricey for 2+

I think it uses Wii remotes with pointer controls. Not sure though.
