also, as a random idea, you may want to (if you're comfortable with it) try popping off the back panel and checking to see if the vent and fan are still clean. I was having similar problems, and on a whim checked the fan after noticing kind of a dusty smell, and sure enough, there was a big ol' piece of lint-something inside the vent!

Almost certainly something clogging the fan. Get some compressed air and clean it out. *NM*
