In response to your exact stateent, Jacob, how am I to know that "...Portal 2 [is] perhaps one of the very best puzzle games of all time, with good writing, humor, and great design..."? Obviously I haven't played it yet and no one has reviewed it extensively here yet. That was kind of the reason why I asked people to fill me in instead of ranting at me.
If you don't want people to try to convince you, you shouldn't ask for that because it's disingenuous and your tone would put a person on the defensive (almost a defend why you like this THAT much). If you're considering buying the game, but want to know more about it, there is almost always a few things that each gamer prizes above other things in games. Most gamers would be able to answer a question of what they'd be most interested in learning about in the game.
Gher had a pretty solid review, even with a couple spoilers, and reviews abound around the web. The game retains Portal's high quality, it's longer, has some new ways to navigate, additional aspects, and still has very good writing. At the moment, Portal 2 is easily the best reviewed and highest rated game of the year. Of course, a person likes what a person likes, and a review doesn't always capture why a game might transcend a game type. Little Big Planet is an example for me. I don't typically like platformers. It wasn't until I asked some questions about aspects of the game until I was convinced to give it a shot. Glad that I did.
As I said right away, I understood what you were saying. I too am waiting for the price to come down as I can't justify paying full price for a game right now (just don't have the disposable income at the moment to pay for a game). I was just trying to comment on why people were responding in a way that seemed to surprise you.
A Portal 2 thread, you monster.

Agreed. As masterful as Portal was, I'd rather wait for a price drop. *NM*

Stating that it seems overpriced to her != a "holier than thou" attitude.

Bulletstorm is single-player + coop only and sold for $60. What do you want?

Given that short review, I'd say anyone buying Bulletstorm is being severely ripped off.

To be fair, it's my opinion of the BS (hah) demo. A case of interesting gimmick + bad execution.

If it's as long as Portal 1, then I completely agree
