The dialog choices in Dragon Age are more varied.

In Mass Effect, you have the Paragon choice, an the Renegade choice. You choose your route at the beginning of the game, and then you never change.
In Dragon Age, there is no overarching "morality meter" type thing. You don't gain paragon or renegade points. Instead, each of your allies has a "Friend/Rival" meter, and based on your choices they will like you more or less. This dynamic is much more interesting, requires more thought, and isn't as 2dimensional.
Most of your choice fall into three categories: the "Nice" choice, the "badass" choice, and the middle choice, which alternates between the "ironic humor" response something else I haven't figured out yet. I have used all three choices so far pretty regularly, something I never did in Mass Effect. The choice I make changes based on which party members I have with me and how I think they'll react, as well as how I WANT to react as a character.
EDIT: And so far I have no regret about paying 55 for this. I'd do it again.

Better and worse are too 1-dimensional. It's different. Very different.

Well, I haven't really agonized over any choices.

No agony yet, but I was torn between the smuggler and the mercenary in Kirkwall.

It's a great $20-30 game. Definitely not worth $60. *NM*

So far, I'd disagree. It's worth the full-price. Again though, only 4 hours in. *NM*

Some of the "improvements" are really dumb

There is an auto-attack. On PC, at least. Right click on the enemy. *NM*

It's picking up a bit. I'm just getting tired of Kirkwall. Still not a $60 game.

I've heard a lot of nasty things about how the release of that game was handled.

Advice: get Wynn (or whatever the healer's name is) first, as far as party members go.

At this rate, I'll buy The Witcher 2 instead and wait for DA2 to bottom out in a Steam sale. *NM*
