It's a fun little group card game. A parody of D&D. Just start with the basic starter set.

Which is a standalone game. Everything else is totally optional. I've never played with any of the extra stuff, myself.
The base game IS filled with D&D or pen and paper roll-playing references though. It can certainly be enjoyed even without having done any of that, but it's even more hilarious if you've played pen-and-paper RPGs.

I know the PAX SJ Games booth will have the boardgame. Which is better, card or boardgame? *NM*

Another question: Can I just buy one pack, or is like MTG where everyone needs their own deck? *NM*

You need one base set (be sure not to get mixed with the smaller expansions). No different decks. *NM*

Loved it, but never had the desire to play more than once or twice.
