...from the ground up. So much of it feels utterly archaic and broken, and it's ability to improve is completely hampered by the way they cling to every tiny detail of the old games. They never change or take away anything that exists, even between games; they only add new stuff. And this new stuff is built on old stuff.

That's untenable in the long run, and preserves tired formulas.


It doesn't need re-inventing, IMO. Also, I'm generally very reserved about changes to existing series (Master of orion III will do that to anyone )
