Most of my games are ones that can be played with others.

And mostly first-party ones, too. I recommend the Metroid Prime Trilogy, either of the SMB Galaxies, Zelda, etc, for single-player. The new NBA Jam is kinda fun with others, but I wouldn't pay full price for it. I'm not a huge fan of shooters on the Wii, though I think I'd prefer the Wiimote/chuck control over the usual console analog stick setup. The Lego games are fun with other people, too. Okami and Muramasa: Demon Blade look worth getting, with one being Zelda-esque and the other a beautiful side-scrolling action game. My general rule for Wii games is to get 'em on sale, though.
There are some great WiiWare titles amidst the shovelware, such as Cave Story, Fluidity and Dr. Mario Online Rx. (think Dr. Mario that uses the Wiimote) I actually prefer World of Goo on the Wii over any other system, so get that if you haven't played it yet.

The sword might be grateful to the forge fire, but never fond of it.

Yeah, on WiiWare. Updated audio & visuals. (can be toggled w/ classic for purists) Worth your $12. *NM*

Cave Story is one of the best games... ever. Thanks for reminding me of the port. *NM*

We don't have many games for the Wii, but my favorite is Super Smash Bros. Brawl. *NM*

There aren't a TON of great Wii games, but there are still enough to keep you busy for awhile.

Also: if you missed out on the GC, you should dive into it's library a bit. *NM*

Gamecube had an excellent library. I was glad the games were playable on Wii. *NM*
