GOG has a ton of shit on sale, too. But I'll never be able to decide out of all the titles. *NM* Panorphaeon Send a noteboard - 21/12/2010 07:49:10 PM
Steam sales are when we're reminded of one of PC gaming's best attributes: great digital game sales.

I picked up Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for $6.79.

Super Meat Boy for $3-something and both FEAR games for $10 are also good values. I'll be keeping an eye out for the next two weeks' worth of deals...

STEAM SALE ADVICE: If you see a game you want on sale for a modest percentage (10-15%), you usually don't want to buy it yet. Individual games often get steep discounts (30-90%) on select days. So, as an example, if Game A is normally $49.99 and is discounted to $39.99, you may want to wait. With the exception of very new titles, Game A is likely to be discounted by at least 33-75% at some point. It's often the $30-40 games that get cut down to less than $10.

A friend of mine learned this lesson with GTA IV last year. It was reduced from $30-something to $14.99 during the sale. After he bought it for that, it became $7.25 on the next daily special.

New Vegas is another example. For the entirety of the Holiday Sale, its price is $37.49. (25% off) I would wait until the last day of the sale to buy it, though. Even though it's new, it might drop to 33-50% off for one day only. Then again, if the bulk of your available time to play is during the next two weeks, picking it up now at its sale price might be worth the extra time.

Unless it's multi-player, you should be able to play most anything in offline mode. - 24/12/2010 02:16:03 PM 415 Views
