Hmm. . .that's definitely a thought. Thanks. - Edit 1

I was originally thinking something simple like a turn-based RPG battle, but that "constant motion" requirement may eliminate that option.

RPG was my first thought too. Unfortunately I think writing one of those would be a little more complex than the kind of thing I'm looking at. Why? Because an RPG requires a world, graphics, and some sort of environment / world. In other words, quite a bit of content above and beyond simply writing the engine.

So with that in mind, I say make an Oregon Trail-style hunting game.

Not a bad idea. Sounds like it would fit my guidelines nicely, and it wouldn't be very difficult. No screen scrolling, very little collision detection, etc. It would still require some graphics, but mainly backgrounds and a few sprites which I could dig up online somewhere. The only problem with this idea is that I can't right off think how to make it. . .well, fun. :P Which isn't necessarily a downside, since we're not getting graded on how much the professor enjoys it, but still. I'd like to make something I'd like to play.
