I ended up going for an MSI Hawk 1gb 460 that was on sale for $159 after discount & rebate.

It's one step under the $219 Talon Superclocked version. Just can't beat getting it for $60 cheaper and trying to OC on my own. (if I choose to)
My trusty 8800GT would've continued to serve me well as-is, but the 460 will allow me to turn things up a bit and have access to newer features. I plan to replay (or at least mess around with) FarCry2, Crysis and its Warhead expansion, Just Cause 2... Will probably restart and actually finish Metro2033 this time. That game is rigid in its graphical settings, though, so I'll likely still be limited. Plus, going up to dx11 will dip frames. Either way, this is a cheap enough upgrade for me to mess around with.

The sword might be grateful to the forge fire, but never fond of it.
