I want to know what more than half the words in a post like this mean. Maybe I'll take that class at the community college some time.
I learned most of my tech know-how from friends who knew (and continue to know) more than me. Also, reading tech articles can help once you have a basic understanding. I don't pretend to know the full-on nuts & bolts like Roland, tho. The same goes for my good friend that works at an electronics store.
I'm not naive enough to rate my tech level as 5/5 on Newegg. Maybe 3 - 4 on an accurate scale. I order & build my own PCs, but won't pretend to be an expert or know exactly how it all works. Knowing about and knowing how are two different things.
But that was before I could afford a computer of my own.
Kirk: Spock, you want to know something? Everybody’s human.
Spock: I find that remark…insulting.

I ended up going for an MSI Hawk 1gb 460 that was on sale for $159 after discount & rebate.
