Why did I install Sims 3? Nothing good can come of this

Especially since every time I play a Sims game, it goes the same way.
1. Use a "starter" household. Focus on their careers, making friends only when forced to by the game (psh... "you need 2 more friends to increase Charisma," bah!)
2. If the household didn't have a romance, create one pretty quickly, if only because "WooHoo" increases Social AND Fun!
3. At some point, the partner won't be around but I'll need a Fun fix. Cue the inevitable lesbian affair.
4. Get bored after maxing out the career path (without ever moving out of the piece of crap house they live in).
5. Populate the neighborhood with my friends. Laugh whenever one of them cries, or burns down the house.
5 simple steps that will undoubtedly take about 40 hours to complete.
And yet... I love it!
(Just downloaded The Awesome Mod, which people seem to be saying has a lot of nice little tweaks)
Anyone else play Sims 3? Thoughts?

I've now progressed to the "give my starter family $200,000 to build a sweet house" stage *NM*
