What do you think about the Starcraft 2 units? Here are my thoughts...
Things I like
1. Marauder (Terran) - This is a very cool unit with armour-piercing capabilities. He's a little expensive but excellent in some situations.
Probably the strongest unit in the game and the reason why so many people think the Terran is overpowered. For example, Terran can build this unit from basically the start of the game. The Protoss counter to the Marauder is Colossi, which are really high up the tech tree (need to get a Gateway, Cybernetics Core, Robotics Facility and also a Robotics Bay before you can build a Colossus; Marauder only requires a Tech-lab add-on to your Barracks). If you're playing Zerg, you basically don't have any good counter for the Marauders.. maybe using fungal growth with Infestors, but that requires like a Hive tech or something pretty high as well. I guess mutalisks would also work, but they die real quick to marines which any half-decent Terran player will always have in his army. Hydras are alright against Marauders but not exactly low-tech. Brood Lords would do well, but they are, once again, at the top of the tech tree.
2. Reapers (Terran) - These guys are cool.
They're fun to use, but not useful at all except for rushing Zerg players. Stalkers kill them very easily.
3. Vikings (Terran) - I like the way they can transform from air to land. It's a fun gimmick that makes things slightly more awesome than if they could automatically attack land/air.
Yeah, Vikings are awesome.
4. Nydus Worm (Zerg) - They've really made this a lot more fun than the original Nydus canal. It's also lethal if placed correctly.
Not utilized enough in my opinion.
5. Banelings (Zerg) - I can't tell you how much I love these guys. They are so much fun to play with!
lol, they are pretty baller
6. Brood Lord (Zerg) - An awesome heavy flying attack unit with a nice concept surrounding their attack method.
Yeah, and I love how the ai of the attacking units attacks the broodlings instead of the Brood Lords lol
7. Colossus (Protoss) - These guys are mean. They have huge weaknesses but they're amazing if used properly.
Yes, they are really good if you put them behind your main army and have the range upgrade.
8. Mothership (Protoss) - Awesome and cool. It's basically a giant arbiter but still a lot of fun to use in a strategy.
Yeah, but takes forever to build and costs so much. It is pretty fun though.
9. Void Ray (Protoss) - An almost unfairly powerful unit, it's a huge addition to the Protoss fleet.
Possibly my favorite unit. They are really good once you get them fully charged. Before that, they're not really good at all.
10. Sentinels (Protoss) - underestimated. They're awesome.
They are essential at keeping the Marauders rush from running up your ramp until you can get some colossi.
Things I don't like/miss
1. Queen (Zerg) - It was nice when she could fly.
1. Queen (Zerg) - It was nice when she could fly.
Yeah, but this queen is way better and way more useful.
2. Defiler (Zerg) - He was always cool, and I miss his plague and other curses.
Yeah, I really hated those things. The plague could really swing the odds in the Zerg favor even if he was badly outnumbered. Now there is fungal growth through the infestors, which is more fun and less unfair.
3. Templar (Protoss) - They're essentially useless IMO, and far less powerful than in the first game.
Psi storm has definitely been weakened (can't even kill a ghost now with 1 storm lol), but I wouldn't say they are useless. They shred marines and marauders pretty well and crush basically all zerg units. Archons are a lot less useful now, but still they're free once you get the templar lol. And also, the feedback ability is essential when facing off against ghosts or infestors, even medvacs. Also good against units like the Thor, battlecruisers, etc. which have lots of energy stored up and high HP.
4. Arbiter (Protoss) - This was an awesome support unit. It's a bit of tragedy that they made the mothership into a massive arbiter with few added functions.
Yeah that was a fun unit.
Feel free to add your own...
Well, in most of my Starcraft games, I play as Protoss so I'm most familiar with their units
Stalker - pretty good, especially with Blink. Destroys Roaches and basically all air units.
Carriers - not as useful as before.
Phoenix - I really like this unit's ability to pick up ground units and destroy them. Especially good against siege tanks.
Immortals - pretty good against the high damage units (tanks, ultralisks), but dies easily to bunch of marines
Dark Templar - really disappointed with this one. The Dark Shrine takes eons to build and detection is a dime a dozen in SC2, especially for Terran. I basically never use Dark Templar. They're at the top of the tech tree but they are actually only useful in the early game.
Chrono Boost - I really like this feature.
Observers - is it just me or are they a lot slower in SC2, and have much less vision?
Warp Prism - not really that useful, but definitely better than the shuttle.
Reavers - thank god they're not in SC2

I don't play as Zerg either, but I've seen it done effectively. Check out this video

I'm only familiar with Zerg and what annoys me as Zerg, SO.

Tried Zerg once or twice in coop games last week. Any advice for a Zerg noob?

Queen per hatchery. Constant spawn larvae. Expand creep constantly.

The thing about the Zerg in Starcraft 2, is that they're a very reactionary race.

Thanks for both replies. The Queens + larvae help tremendously. I'll work on the rest.

I really only play the campaigns in single player mode, so my experience might be a little different

Well, we've got Force Field, Hallucinate, Psi Storm and Feedback, so I'm not complaining .

Yes... press the hotkey for burrow and then the key for parasite (very quickly, but in that order)
