You might well be correct. Apparently, whatever numbers the companies have indicate that an MMO is a good idea. Keep in mind that an MMO doesn't have to have very many subscribers to make money, and it's not just WoW that's making / has made money. Eve Online has a couple hundred thousand subscribers, and does well. Warhammer supposedly had close to a million subscribers at one point. Compared to the overall market, a few hundred thousand subscribers isn't a huge segment, and with just 100,000 subscribers, you're pulling in a million and a half per month. It's easy to see why MMOs are attractive.
