If you're that upset about it, go start your own game company.
How about I not buy the game? Is that a permitted response?
Personally, I think it's a load of bullshit. Server-side authentication of any sort means that you're not buying the game, you're renting it. I do not go in for that. As such - and combined with the whole lack of LAN thing - I'll probably skip SC2. Oh well.
My only fear is that Diablo 3 will have the same crap. It's all but guaranteed. And it would hurt me far more to skip it.
If you only have to authenticate it server-side once and then you're able to play offline to your heart's content, is that really the same as renting it? It doesn't seem like such a draconian measure to me. I suppose you could argue that having to authenticate it again when you get new computers down the line is bad, but really, it's Blizzard, their servers will still be up long after you've stopped caring about the game ...

Could be worse. I'm still miffed about its release structure, though. I feel milked.

I'm pretty anti-DRM, but one-time connection seems reasonable enough.

I have to agree... the more restrictions and hassles they put on playing purchased games

The majority of people, actually.

That's just a terrible argument. If they have no Internet, they can't illegally download games.
