it's halftime now, with stanford up 20-12 over uconn. this is amazing for two reasons: 1) uconn has not trailed in the tournament since giving up the first basket in their first tournament game and 2) it's not so much a defensive game as it is a "throw the ball in the general direction of the basket and hope it goes in" kind of game. i don't think i've ever seen a NCAA championship game with such a low score at the half...
Because NCAA championship games usually feature men, who are much better at whatever sport they are playing. That might even be a low score for some Bowl Games featuring WAC teams.Basketball is a game where height matters a great deal. That being so, women are just not going to be as good at it. Therefore women's basketball is inferior to men's. Since college basketball is no longer an essential prerequisite for the pros, it is even more obviously inferior to the NBA than ever. So this game is two counts of inferior right off the bat. Inferior to the NBA (amatuer < pro; women < men); inferior to the men's tournamnet (women < men); inferior to the WNBA (amateur < pro). Let's hear it for the fourth best level of basketball in the US!
Hell, nobody would even watch the men's tournament if it wasn't so gambling-friendly, and taking place in the dead zone of the sports callender (after football, before baseball, and before the post-season races start kicking in to revive waning interest during the long NBA & hockey seasons).
