So yesterday in the middle of posting something here, Firefox froze on me. Completely. I couldn't click on anything, lock the account, Ctrl-alt-delete, nothing. So I held the power button til it shut off, and tried again, thinking it was a one-time glitch.
Every time I try to start Firefox, it freezes the whole computer just like that. So I want to uninstall it (and hopefully reinstall it later). But every time I try to uninstall it, nothing happens. I go to Programs and Features in Control Panel (I'm using Windows Vista), and find Mozilla Firefox, and click uninstall. It opens up the User Account Control-Windows needs your permission to continue box, and I click continue. Then nothing. I've waited, thinking it needed time, nothing. I've done it over and over and over, nothing. I've uninstalled other programs to see if it's a widespread problem, they all uninstall. But not Firefox.
So how do I uninstall a program that won't uninstall? I even tried uninstalling it in safe mode, it just opened up a command prompt window for less than a second, then it disappeared. Nothing.
I've tried System Restore, I've tried updating Firefox and my computer, I've tried Safe Mode and regular, I've run an AVG scan, I'm pretty much stuck. After I post this I'm going to try Firefox in safe mode, but I suspect that'll freeze my computer, and I'll have to turn it off and on again.
Oh, and does this problem sound familiar to anyone? I can't figure what I did to freeze it. I was just typing at the time. I'd like to avoid this in the future.
Thanks in advance.
