Re: Not "higher" nor "lower," but "different" would be the word to use here

Oh, I agree that such an ad would never see the light of day here, but certain things said/shown here would not be broadcast there, either. It's just different in what's acceptable and what is not. Cultural differences, more or less.
Oh, and as far as I can recall, there wasn't a history of racial segregation in Western Europe on the scale that there was here in the US through the mid-20th century. That and the lack of identifiable civil rights leaders may have something to do with it as well.

I see I see. I've always thought we're a little too sensitive to racial tensions here in the US, but there are times when europeans seem to do things that are downright offensive. The spanish basketball team to name one (I'm not sure if you're familiar but they pulled their eyes back making them thin for a photoshoot for the beijing olympics) and I've heard some seriously concerning stories about african soccer players playing in spain and other parts of europe.
You must unlearn what you have learned.

She agrees with you about it not being racist - she had issues with your "crude" comment.

It's not race specific music if it's enjoyed/performed/presented by various races.

Only if it's racist to mention the fact that different races exist. Which seems to be the US view.

Some people are like that, yes, but at least it isn't the "accepted" media position. Yet. *NM*

Not at all, the problem is when people seem to say something is exclusive to a given race.

I agree with some of what you say, but I think you're assuming more than is warranted.
