And an example of a non-service industry is the sale of apples. The producer is selling the apple. Not his ability to pick apples, but the apple itself. If he was hiring himself out to pick apples, he'd be providing a service.

And I'm not sure what you'd call an industry that is FREE, as it is here. They may be offering a "service" but when they don't set a price, it's hard to compare it with McDonald's as you seem to be so willing to do.
