FWIW, I probably wouldn't buy the wall unit organizer right now if you'll resent/regret the expense (that seems less urgent with her not living in the house?) but I'd go through with the bus pass. You can set aside the money for the organizer for when she moves back in, or you can shift the priority list a bit and use the money for something else that makes more sense at the moment?
As in, I've told her I would and it would be mean and petty to go back on my word.
She does need it where she is and she has no other way of getting it. Making her wait until she can afford it just seems mean and petty, particularly as that could be quite awhile.
i don't know what state you live in, but there are some state programs which not only encourage couples' counseling, but offer subsidies and/or outright pay for such services if you qualify. it might be worth checking into as a way to get over that whole "counseling as long as we can afford it" hurdle.

I think the counseling will help, assuming it's with somebody good

Showing your anger isn't necessarily bad if you can do it without really losing your temper...

The best thing you can do is to speak to her when your anger isn't flaring, but be honest.
