Yes, THIS bill didn't do much in the way of cost mitigation.

And I'll be annoyed if the next one doesn't...but until then, I'm willing to wait.

You're falling for the "we have to pass this horrible bill now or healthcare reform is doomed for a generation111" BS that Obama and Co. used to gain support for the bill. In Washington, declaring victories heading into elections is more important than actually ACHIEVING victories, which is why Obamas instructions to Reid on negotiations with Lieberman basically consisted of "give away the store if you have to, but get his vote. "

After all the struggle and damage to both sides NO ONE will have any taste for revisiting this issue. Especially since the prevalent view will be that it's finally been settled (which is the first thing opponents of real reform will say, followed by claims their charges of incremental socialism were right all along. ) This bill is ironic in many ways: It's biggest critics are its greatest beneficiaries, it's biggest supporters are its most unlikely defenders and since few cost controls will exist even after the reconciliation bill it will likely just inflate costs as the mad scramble for a trillion plus dollars ensues. And, of course, most ironically, passing it will actually accomplish what it's supposed to prevent: The end of healthcare reform for a generation.

We're done with healthcare for a while unless republicans take power.
You must unlearn what you have learned.
