wouldn't the doctor's worry be offset by that 10% increase, though? They'll only get it if they accept the Medicare.

Besides, in some towns, doctors would find themselves with a dearth of patients without taking Medicare. Can you imagine what would happen to Florida Doctors? :P


The point I didn't necessarily want to get into was that with the way things are now, doctors have no reason to make their treatments more cost-effective for their patients and their insurance providers (there was a good Business Week article about a month ago, about a hospital in Oregon that turned money-losing Medicare patients into profitable ones).
