At least, I'd like it to be. Both sides have skewed the facts of the bill so much I stopped following the healthcare debate altogether. Obama and democrats spew out nothing but rhetoric to serious talking points, while republicans resort to reductio ad absurdum every time something remotely controversial comes up (baby killer!).
My question is, if this bill really is only setting up market exchanges to buy insurance across state lines, where the heck is the 900 billion coming from? Just government subsidies?
How much would medicare and medicaid cost if they went unchanged for the period of time the bill is supposed to save the country money? Obama and democrats keep pointing out that the bill saves us money, but they don't tell us what the cost of medicare and medicaid is right now. Nor do they mention how simply cutting down on waste etc. will be achieved or how they plan to change what's being done currently.
As usual, our country has become too democratic and public office has become too much of a profession and not a public service.
I don't think anyone wants mob rule and I don't think anyone wants people who only care about getting elected. This debate could have taken a few months rather than a year if we had a proper government.

They don't, or at least not in this bill. That'll have to be a new bill.

To the extent the framers intended an elitist legislature, they erred, IMHO.

We can't pay for the subsidies; even after the tax hike they increase debt in the short term.

The $900 billion is essentially just government subsidies: Healthcare's gotten THAT expensive.
