... and most of it was far away from any regular news access, just a bit of headlines news in the D-fac
Pretty much there was some political firings of US Attorneys, done by one of Alberto Gonzales aids, he actually push for her to do the firing. Congress found about it and did congressional hearings. Alberto Gonzales even though had weeks to prepare spent the entire 4 hour hearing said he didn't recall anything about the events event though his emails showed he was intimately involved in the political firings.
In several hours before the Judiciary Committee on Thursday, Gonzales said he had done nothing improper in firing the eight prosecutors, but conceded the case had been badly handled. At the same time, he said 71 times that he either could not recall or did not remember conversations or events surrounding the dismissals.
Alberto Gonzales also outright lied concerning NSA Domestic eavesdropping program, James B. Comey (deputy attorney general during the 1st bush term), and the night Ashcroft (the 1st attorney general) was in hospital, Comey was acting AG and Gonzales tried to go to the drugged out Ashcroft trying to get Ashcroft to overrule Comey even though Ashcroft was recovering from surgery.
