I dated a girl who had been raised to drastically overcook all meats. She tried to make me steak once and it ended up like thin planks of plywood.
I'm lucky that my current bf is a vegetarian. I was too during most of my formative years, and while I'll eat meat now, I'm always nervous when cooking it. In my head, there's only a tiny little zone between plywood and "omg it's going to kill you with its evil unsafe meaty properties."
That said, I did cook a pretty awesome pancetta-wrapped pork tenderloin for Christmas this year.

I don't know if this counts as cooking since it was just a frozen pizza.

I once tried to double a meatloaf recipe and just use a bigger pan.
