Teter, Vonn comfortable with their bodies; you should be, too Dark Cannoli'gar Send a noteboard - 15/02/2010 11:19:44 AM

U.S. Olympians Hannah Teter and Lindsey Vonn modeled for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. After all, they train like madwomen to be the best in snowboarding and skiing respectively. A nice byproduct of that training is that they have gorgeous, athletic bodies, and both women are comfortable showing off those bodies:

“I was really amped up to do that, because I don’t believe in the criminalization of bodies and women having to be ashamed of their bodies," Teter told Reuters. " ... The pictures are a little risque, but they’re totally not sexual. Bodies are beautiful and should be appreciated.”

Teter is known as a free spirit, and her sense of humor applies to the human body. At the site where Teter is selling undies for Haiti relief, slogans like "Do your civic booty" and "Baby gave back" scroll over the boy shorts that say "Make love not war."

Like Teter, Vonn isn't bothered by nudity.

"I’m OK with people being naked. There shouldn’t be a huge deal made about it. People in tribal nations walk around naked, and they don’t have bad things going on sexually, because it’s OK."

Kudos to Teter and Vonn. At a time where everyone from the first lady to the Centers for Disease Control are working to prevent childhood obesity, both of these Olympians are showing a healthy body image.

Well, dammit, I don't agree! When I ogle swimsuit-wearing meat racks in an issue dedicated solely to that purpose, I don't want to be confronted by women who are supposed to be role models for the kids! What kind of message is that sending to kids who are innocently persuing a magazine devoted solely to lechery and cheesecake, without even the excuse of sports material to justify children reading it! When I was a kid and indifferent to Kathy Ireland and Elle MacPherson's mostly naked bodies, I was incensed that I had this stuff polluting my sports magazine, and making my parents take it away. Now that I am an adult, I can't do my ogling under the cover of "reading the articles" so I dammn well don't WANT any flat-chested, thick-limbed athletes cluttering the magazine up!

Hannah Teter is quite homely. I wouldn't want to see her nude. *NM* - 15/02/2010 03:45:27 PM 218 Views
