I've never much cared for the Denver Broncos, but I followed them for a while a few years back because a friend of mine is married to a former defensive tackle, Mario Fatafehi. He had a pretty good college career at Kansas State, and played two seasons in Denver as well as a couple years with Arizona and Carolina. After Denver cut him, I no longer had a reason to support the team. It is interesting to note that his last two NFL games were against the Colts (2004 season and post-season).
I am a fan (and alumnus) of the Boise State Broncos, however.
Heh, one of the few college teams I actually respect, but then, they are the winningest team of the decade. Doesn't count though, because they don't play anyone tough. Funny how none of the schools who dismiss them because of that will accept their "any time, anywhere" invitation. Also, thanks for Ryan Clady; I thought we were SCREWED when Lepsis (who's actually from HERE) retired. Nice little connections there.
We tend to get some pretty good players that were overlooked by other schools. Clady was only a two-star recruit when we got him, and he's turned out pretty well. I'm glad he's doing well in Denver. It's always nice to see our players in the NFL.
This next season should be good for Boise State. We play Virginia Tech at FedEx Field and Oregon State at home. It would be nice if our conference mates would step up a bit, but we'll play the schedule we are given and hope it turns out for the best. Eventually we'll be invited to a more competitive conference or the WAC will improve. Eventually we'll have a bigger stadium so more of the bigger schools will be more willing to come play on the Blue. But, in the mean time, we'll keep playing and winning (hopefully), go to the occasional BCS Bowl, and continue hearing about how we never play anybody and we'd be a 5-loss team in a "real" conference.
It's frustrating, but it's not as bad as it was just a few years ago.
Although with that in mind I again refer to the fact Mike Bell had three 50 yard runs against ya'll when we played in '06, and the only reason we lost is because he went to the sidelines to suck air after the last one (he was only a rookie) so we went three plays and FG, giving us the lead and Manning and Co. the ball back with almost two minutes to play. We all knew what would happen next. Especially those who referred to our D as "Coyers Follies. " Coyer was gone at the end of the season, and Bell at the end of the next one, but that they faced off against each other Sunday is an argument maybe Shanahan really was the problem. Not that McDaniels is better, IMHO.
I'm happy that you have a reason to feel good about your team's performance in a game three seasons ago. (-:,`
Aren't they playing each other again this year?
Sometimes you take your victories where you can; '06 ended a little better for ya'll than it did for us, IIRC. As to the other, it's easy to find out the answer:
I think I remember something about how that season ended for us....
'08 AFC West vs. AFC East
'09 AFC West vs. AFC North
Which means we play the South again next year, lather, rinse, repeat.

P.S. The "NSSP" is implied.
Of course, [Quixote] carried it a bit too far. He thought that every windmill was a giant. That's insane. But, thinking that they might be...
