I quite like Catcher in the Rye but I've never been able to shake the feeling a lot of why it is so famous and highly rated by some is that it has had plenty of controversy around it and Salinger becoming a recluse.
I also vote that anyone mentions deaths happening in threes gets punched in the head.

Also, I loved Catcher in the Rye w/o knowing any of the personal story. However, it's possible that at that point I subconsciously owned the pink sweater already.
