It's too fruity-sweet/spicy for my liking to go with food. I'm weird about flavor combinations though. I'm aware that it's completely irrational (because I have no problem drinking wine with savory foods, but then I don't drink sweet wines either), but there you have it
I prefer the less sweet beers with food.

I see. I don't think of it as that sweet, but then I guess really bitter beers are not really big in Belgium, that's more of a British/Irish thing... Mostly I think of it as very refreshing, hence I definitely agree with you on the summer aspect.
I guess I do agree that really sweet wines or really sweet beers - as in, actual fruit beers - don't go together with a normal meal very well.
Witbier I guess? But if you don't know, there's really no chance for the rest of us

Oh, witbier is Flemish, that's not the point - I didn't recall exactly how it was spelled in English, whether it was a literal copy, a calque or something inbetween.
I see. I've seen it basically every way you spelled it, so I'm not sure there's a set English/American spelling, but probably whitbeer I suppose. I always spell it witbier though.
If you are from Betelgeuse, please have one of your Earth friends read what I've written before you respond. Or try concentrating harder.
