Apples to Apples and Catchphrase are both great. - Edit 1

...and by adult, I don't mean sex or drinking games. I just mean not kiddy games.

My mother's partner had a mild heart attack on Xmas. Two days later, she had quintuple by-pass surgery. She's home from the hospital now, but she's bored out of her mind. She just can't do very much yet - doctor's orders.

I thought I would get some board games to take to their house and play. My mom and her partner wouldn't like the same games that I already have...like trivial pursuit, scrabble, etc.

I guess I'm thinking more along the lines of party games? Light, fun, easy-to-play games.

Any suggestions?

Balderdash is another good one where you have to guess who's lying. Umm ... Scene It can be fun if you all like movies. We have a kind of obscure game called Gift Trap that's pretty fun where you have to choose who would like what gift best from the bizarre selection given. Pictionary is nice, but you need four people minimum. Apples to Apples is not really a board game, but it's pretty fun and very easy to play. Taboo and Catchphrase are both a "guess the word" type of game, they're pretty fun.

I hope she feels better soon! :)
