He either intentionally insulted Tennessee or just was being socially un-adept Kiffen because he was rambling on about how you don't have to go "sell" USC, USC sells itself (basically implying Tennessee can't compare). It just sounded so insulting.
Of course, UT is in a much smaller state than CA, so the recruiting has to be national in scope in order to complete with the FL and GA schools. That being said, I seem to recall discussions several months ago about scheduling matchups between the two schools in the next ten years or so. Be nice if it would happen and that Kiffin somehow manages to last that long there. Can you imagine the booing in Neyland Stadium?
