If you have to say "African-American", how do you talk about black people who aren't American? You can't just say "African" if they're British.
"Caucasian" for white people annoys me even more. Not only have I never even been to the Caucasus, but the term is based on some 19th-century Bible nut's theory that the three main races are each descended from one of the three sons of Noah. In this theory, African people's dark skin is stained by the sin of their ancestor Ham. How much more racist can you get?
