I don't believe we can say either way at the moment Isaac Send a noteboard - 08/01/2010 08:40:30 PM
it's actually gone down again in the past few years. decades from now It may just look like a blip in the statistics and a deviation from the overall trent--that certainly could be the case--but right now, you can expect to live less long than what they would have guessed a few years ago :P

I don't think it's gone down - the universe would be in an uproar :P From what I can remember the increase that we get each year in life expectancy has gone down - and that already caused a little stir.

But life expectancy, like the stock market, tends to be stochastic with an upward trend, it might have dipped, low-money times and all, less people going in for treatment in marginal situations, increased suicides, increased accidental deaths from higher risks (cars less maintained, roads less maintained, houses less maintained, increased crime) so it might have plunged and not just 'grown less', I'd doubt they've compiled the data yet, too recent. Either way, whether or decrease in total or a decrease in growth, it's a temporary blip.
The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.
