They have a legal right to dump, but I have a right to judge them as well

Just like I judge supermarkets that refuse to donate the day-old bread that they're throwing out anyway. I'm friends with a food charity that gets the majority of its donations from supermarkets who get rid of unbought food to make room for the new stuff.
Usually, there's nothing wrong with the unbought food- there's just limited shelf space, so the oldest stuff gets tossed. Instead, the charity collects that food and hands it out amongst local neighborhoods.
Wal-Mart and the like don't even have the excuse of their merchandise rotting and becoming unfit for donation- a hideous shirt that didn't sell can still keep a homeless kid warm.

I amuse myself.

While I agree that companies have no legal "obligation to help the general public"...

A problem these companies have is finding a honest non-profit charity to donate items to.
