I don't understand why its useless in automatics. I accelerate just fine.

If I need to, I can shift from neutral to 2nd and accelerate from there. Or I can downshift if I need to slow down quickly. I've had to do both of those things before, and I probably would have gotten in a wreck if I hadn't been able to shift in a way that (most) automatics simply won't let you do.
I'm confused still. I mean... breaks let you stop. Unless you're on ice or going extra fast there shouldn't be a problem stopping unless you have bad breaks.
If you need more control in an automatic then
you're clearly not driving correctly.
I didn't say I "need" it. I drive automatics well; it's like riding a tricycle. I prefer having more control. There's always the possibility that I'm a good enough driver that having a manual transmission matters.
I stand by if you supposedly "need" more control then you're doing something wrong.
I mean I've been in two accidents. One, I was at a stop sign sitting. The girl was sitting behind me in her car. A car zoomed by. She took this as it was time to hit the gas... right into the back of me. The other one, I was going a bit too fast in weather I should not have been driving in for any reason (a near complete whiteout) and the girl I hit hadn't cleaned any snow off her car except for a bit on her windshield so I hit her since her breaklights were covered. Manual wouldn't have helped with those.
I've had close calls when I needed to stop fast or go quick... And I've always been able to do it in an automatic. I mean... I love jumping off the line when its red and turns green and I'm rarely if ever beat by anyone. I've driven things from a a super old Camry (an auto, though) to a brand new Honda Civic and its fine. Its about how you drive the car. And in bad weather, its about your tires.
Your mom. That's right. The cat is out of the bag. Your mom.

Or people who like to actually be in control of their cars. Automatics are sloppy.

Acceleration is useless in automatics. I don't know why people even try to argue this.

As I said before, its a question of preferring control, not of "needing" it.

More control is better because, as you say, you know what's coming up on the road.
