If I need to, I can shift from neutral to 2nd and accelerate from there. Or I can downshift if I need to slow down quickly. I've had to do both of those things before, and I probably would have gotten in a wreck if I hadn't been able to shift in a way that (most) automatics simply won't let you do.

If you need more control in an automatic then
you're clearly not driving correctly.

I didn't say I "need" it. I drive automatics well; it's like riding a tricycle. I prefer having more control. There's always the possibility that I'm a good enough driver that having a manual transmission matters. :P
