1. Do you have misgivings about getting into steel cans with wings and hurtling miles above the earth?
None that affect me more than occasional attacks of over active imagination. but these also strike me when doing things like "walking"
1a. WHY NOT?
I'm more likely to slip up in lab and cut myself wide open with a blunt probe than for the particular plane I'm on to crashh and cause a catastrophic accident. That and I sleep through most the flight anyways.
2. If you do, how do you distract yourself during the particularly horrible time called "takeoff?"
2a. Is takeoff not your least favorite time?
I actually love taking off. The pressure of pushing back into the seat makes my back feel FANTASTIC
2b. What is?
I hate landing. Particularly in Phoenix. Mostly because Landing is the most un-smooth stomach-jarring part of flying (for the most part), and I get motion sickness in enclosed spaces. It doesn't bother me in the air, but the up down of the landing gets me. I also strangely have never gotten sick on a boat (go figure)
3. Provide hugs and reassurance that this voyage, like every single one I've taken before, will not end in horrible disaster.
<hugs and pats and cooing reassurances)
4. Seriously how do you not want to cry when you go into a plane IT IS TERRIFYING
It's really not. but then again, I also take pleasure in my horse racing around an arena flinging itself over fences, and equestrian events are statistically more deadly than car racing. So in comparison to a over half ton animal grabbing the bit in his reins and bolting around the arena bucking and trying to throw me...yah flying seems pretty tame
