I've loved my wife for more than 20 years. Have I been 'in love' with her that entire time? I don't know. Sometimes we get caught up in the day to day business of living. At other times, there is nothing better than huddling together for warmth, watching the sun come up together. Occasionally, I don't like her very much. And sometimes she is my only reason for being.
I think she'd really have to work at it for awhile before I wouldn't love her anymore. But there are no guarantees in this world. I suppose there are some unforgivable actions I can think of that may alter my opinion. Oddly enough, none of my list of unforgivable transgressions involved marital infidelity. (Well, one of them, but only indirectly. )
Do you have any long term friends or family that you can say that you love with very few conditions? While not a romantic love, it is a source of strength to have a pillar of love you can lean on in tough times. Even these long standing pillars need buttressing every now and then.
