The point was that the books are little mausoleums of ideas. Once they are read, that is it. I do not reread history books. They sit there on the shelf. They are not being used by anyone else. No one else is opening their covers. From my perspective, it is selfish. I think it is better to let go of the books and let others have the chance to open their covers. Think of it as Kinetic vs Potential Energy.
Other than my initial flippant comment about the "selfishness," there was plenty in my post to support you in your endeavor. I may not be the person who either didn't read or didn't understand. I get it though, you've had a lot of replying to do. In any case, I refuse to make you feel you need to argue further in a fun post. I'm out.
