yes but i have a habit of re-reading my books at some future point -- except the textbooks moondog Send a noteboard - 29/10/2009 10:03:04 PM
so far, i've only found two (not counting textbooks) that i felt compelled to get rid of, both the first two books of the rhapsody trilogy from elizabeth haydon. those books were such garbage that i could barely stand to read them much less keep them around to remind me what shitty books they are.

otoh, i have kept almost all of my textbooks over the years. this is through three colleges and two degrees and i rarely, if ever, got rid of any of them. will i ever use them again? well, from time to time i try to remember how to set up a quantum tunnel problem and i need some reference material that i'm familiar with, but for the most part they also just sit there. but i like the reactions people get when they see my books for the first time. "tolkein, douglas adams, hey WTF is this 'theory of quantum mechanics' doing here?" :D

For me it is more about letting others realize how wonderful the books are. Thanks for the reply :D

so i tell my friends how wonderful the books are while saying "you should go get that book and read it". or, if some present-giving holiday or occasion is coming up i may buy it for them, but i don't give up my own stash so easily :)
