irc chat Jonielle Send a noteboard - 01/09/2009 04:42:30 AM
I took the liberty of setting up an irc chat.

I have not asked Nebhead about this if he says this is a bad idea, or something like that, I will close down the chat. If Nebhead don't read this, I will add a suggestion in the Bugs and suggestions bit when things have slowed down somewhat, that he put up a link to the easy way to connect with the text that he is not responsible.

Remember that Nebhead is NOT responsible for what goes on in this chat, if anyone complain on the cmb here or to Nebhead or any of the site admins about what happens in chat, the chat WILL BE CLOSED.

I hope we are all adult and can handle this without operators, if I see it won't work then I might assign a few or just close the channel.

The server has rules, they are almost the same as in wotmania chat. If you wish to know the exact rules ask me and I'll provide a link. They are not my rules, they are the rules for the server we are graciously allowed to use for free. If the rules are broken you might be banned, by me, or by those who run the server. Bans here are permanent. I will not enforce any old bans from wotmania, so you are welcome if you think you can behave.

The easiest way for non-technological people is this:

Open http://webchat.quakenet.org/

Where it says channels, type: readandfindout.com

Choose any nickname you wish, if it is taken it will be automatically altered.

For those using any irc client what you do to join is this:

First type: /server quakenet.org
When logged in type: /join #readandfindout.com

Some clients:

http://www.silverex.org/news/
http://irssi.org/download
For Firefox users:

Trillian

I promised someone I would explain how to set up this in Trillian.

  1. Go to manage account.
  2. Go to create account and choose irc.
  3. Choose a UNIQUE account name, if it is not unique you won't be able to log in.
  4. Choose the nickname you want.
  5. Now click the button with three dots next to choose server.
  6. Scroll down to quakenet.org and choose random server. DO NOT DOUBLE CLICK, click ok.
  7. Now you can click connect, or look in your main Trillian window and click the irc icon.
  8. When the server is connected type: /join #readandfindout.com and now you should be in the chat.
  9. I hope you will enjoy this.

(Any complaints or questions can be noteboarded to me, or sent to my e-mail: Scylvendi@gmail.com or asked here)
