If you're going to get a degree in underwater basketweaving or English Lit, college is probably not for you - not in terms of finding a viable job in this economy these days. On the other hand, if you want a job that will support you, go into something that people need, like medicine, or some business programs.
A three year course on Klingon just becasue you don't want to think about your future yet might not be a great plan. Not if in three years all you've got is a qualification that you are never going to use and a pile of debt to show for those three years.
