While it amused me to see the liberal NYT publish such an article, leave it to a liberal editorial to recommend driving behavior changes by punitive taxation for those who don't comply. I completely agree with you that the solution to most of our civilization's problems is an eventual extinction event. Like George Carlin, I root for the disaster.

As to your abortion rant, your personal views on this issue are by far the most logical I have ever read, because they are morality based. Either you believe life begins at conception, in which case abortion is murder, and therefore is always wrong with no extenuating circumstances, or you believe the fetus is not alive, in which case any restriction at all is illogical. Link below is to a different NYT editorial on this subject from an Irish Democrat who also happens to be a professor of theology at BC. Interesting read.
