Obviously it is very meaningful to those 1000 men and women and their families. However, is Trump really capable of changing the massive political and economic factors that have resulted in manufacturing jobs fleeing the US for cheaper pastures? It seems he was able to make a difference in this case mainly because Carrier's parent company has lucrative contracts with the Department of Defense, which it does not want to risk losing by running afoul of the president.
I will be stunned if manufacturing jobs return to the US in any meaningful amount during Trump's presidency.
