But on the personality, sorry, I just don't see it. Yes, she is prone to flip-flops, like the one on trade, but most politicians are, and kind of have to be in the long run if the public's views change, or if they run for a new position where they have to take into account the views of a different group of people (e.g. the whole country vs just one state). Clearly she doesn't have a lot of personal charisma, and a bit of a fortress mentality with an obsession about her privacy and keeping her friends close - but that's kind of understandable given how she was treated in the past.
But at the same time she is a highly experienced, intelligent and competent woman, and genuinely motivated for public service in addition to mere personal ambition. You could say the same about Republican candidates like Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio or John Kasich, but most certainly not about Trump (he may be intelligent, but none of the rest, at least in the context of the job he's running for).
And as for the dual viewpoints - let's be serious for a minute, every politician has those. Part of the job description, literally so in the case of diplomats - and the role of American President certainly requires one to act the part of a diplomat at times. It may be a polite fiction to not state so out loud, but there's also something to be said for telling it like it is.
