What the hell did you call all the Democratic filibustering of Bush nominees? Did you ever hear of Robert Bork? How about Miguel Estrada? To call this obstructionism or label it Republican, as if it is unique to the GOP means you are so absurdly ignorant of relatively recent history, you should not allowed to post without having Mommy or Daddy sign a permission slip, absurdly and insanely partisan or the most bald-faced liar on this site.
The Constitution itself, states that the Senate has to vote on appointments, because it would be absurd for a government founded on a system of checks and balances, to give one man that much power. The duty to fill the vacancy is every bit as much the Senate's as Obama, and you can just as easily accuse him of being obstructionist in refusing to nominate someone the Senate can accept.
