What exactly is a "Happy Holidays"? Tom Send a noteboard - 28/12/2015 03:46:35 PM

Generally when you already wish someone a Merry Christmas the only other thing left is to wish a happy New Year. You could mention Hanukkah but it ended over a week ago. I always thought that "Happy Holidays" was a way of saying, "I don't know what you celebrate and I'm afraid to wish you something that would offend you", which is why so many people hate it - it has connotations of political correctness.

Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

– Procopius
