View original postI don't think Assad cares much about what's going on with Israel right now, nor will he be strong enough or stable enough to risk a war with Israel at any time in the near future (and by near future I mean at least 5 years). A stronger Iran actually distracts all players in the region from anti-Israeli rhetoric. And it makes the Saudis and Egyptians more likely to ally with Israel to ensure Iran doesn't become overly strong.
As the saying goes, "Assad fi Lubnan, Arnab fi al-Golan" - a lion in Lebanon, a rabbit in the Golan.
